Description

A simple yet delightful Japanese side dish featuring salted cabbage, flavored with toasted sesame oil and seeds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp toasted white sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp Chinese-style chicken bouillon powder
  • ¼ tsp fine sea salt
  • ¼ tsp garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 100 g green cabbage (soft variety)
  • Chili threads (optional, to garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted sesame oil, sesame seeds, bouillon powder, salt, garlic paste, and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Wash the green cabbage and cut it into rough pieces. Add the cabbage to the bowl and rub the seasoning over the leaves for even distribution.
  3. Transfer the seasoned cabbage to a serving dish and top with chili threads if using.
  4. Enjoy as a side dish or snack!

Notes

For the best texture, use fresh, tender cabbage. Let the cabbage sit in the seasoning for 15-30 minutes before serving to enhance the flavor.
