- 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
- 1 Egg (Beaten)
- 1 Onion (Finely diced)
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
- 3 tbsp All-purpose flour (For thickening gravy)
- 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion (Sliced)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
- Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest while you prepare the gravy base.
- In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Remove them and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter. Add flour and stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in the beef broth and cream.
- Nestle the patties into the gravy and cover tightly. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15 more minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for better flavor and juiciness. This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or rice.
