Delightful homemade cinnamon rolls filled with a sweet cinnamon-sugar filling, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 1 cup milk, heated to 110 degrees F
- 2 + 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast
- 1 large room temperature egg
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter, divided
- 4 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 2-4 Tbsp
- 6 Tbsp. softened butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 4 oz. softened cream cheese
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, egg, 1 Tbsp. melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk quickly.
- Add flour and stir until combined, knead for 3 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Prepare cinnamon filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Once risen, roll dough into a 17 x 10 rectangle and spread filling evenly.
- Roll dough lengthwise and cut into 8 pieces.
- Place rolls in a 9×13 pan, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and brush rolls with melted butter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes and cool for 15 minutes.
- For frosting, beat together softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla. Slowly add powdered sugar until mixed.
- Spread frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!
Notes
Ensure milk is at the right temperature to activate the yeast properly and don’t skip the frosting for extra sweetness.
