Description
A cozy, thick pan pizza recipe with crispy edges that uses simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough (store bought is fine)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup pizza sauce (jarred or homemade)
- 2 to 3 cups shredded mozzarella
- Your choice of toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, cooked sausage, pineapple, etc.
- Optional: a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F and adjust the oven rack to the lower middle position.
- Pour olive oil into a 9×13 pan (or a big oven-safe skillet) and press the dough into the pan. If the dough springs back, let it rest for 10 minutes, then press again.
- Spoon sauce over the dough, then add cheese and your choice of toppings, being careful not to overload it.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are deep golden.
- Let the pizza sit for 5 minutes before slicing to help the slices hold together.
Notes
For an extra pizzeria smell, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on the crust edge before baking.
