Description

A cozy, thick pan pizza recipe with crispy edges that uses simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store bought is fine)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (jarred or homemade)
  • 2 to 3 cups shredded mozzarella
  • Your choice of toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, cooked sausage, pineapple, etc.
  • Optional: a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F and adjust the oven rack to the lower middle position.
  2. Pour olive oil into a 9×13 pan (or a big oven-safe skillet) and press the dough into the pan. If the dough springs back, let it rest for 10 minutes, then press again.
  3. Spoon sauce over the dough, then add cheese and your choice of toppings, being careful not to overload it.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are deep golden.
  5. Let the pizza sit for 5 minutes before slicing to help the slices hold together.

Notes

For an extra pizzeria smell, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on the crust edge before baking.
