Description
Enjoy a delightful plate of extra crispy fried chicken, perfect for any gathering with family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight for the best results.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off.
- Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, ensuring it is well-coated.
- For extra crispiness, dip the flour-coated chicken back into the buttermilk and then again into the flour.
- Heat the oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the chicken in batches, cooking until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes per side.
- Remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy your crispy fried chicken!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze it but note that the coating may lose its crunch.
