Description
A cozy Japanese dumpling soup made with miso broth, shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage, and tender gyoza. This easy Japanese soup dish is perfect for traditional Japanese meal inspiration or simple Asian home cooking.
Ingredients
12–15 gyoza dumplings (homemade or store-bought)
4 cups dashi or chicken broth
1 tbsp white miso paste
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp grated ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup napa cabbage, sliced
1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
2 scallions, chopped
1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Heat sesame oil in a medium pot. Add garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant.
2. Pour in broth, soy sauce, and miso paste. Stir until dissolved.
3. Add napa cabbage and shiitake mushrooms. Simmer 3–4 minutes.
4. Gently drop in gyoza dumplings. Cover and simmer 6–8 minutes, until dumplings are tender and cooked through.
5. Finish with scallions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Best served immediately so dumplings don’t soften too much.
Store broth and dumplings separately if making ahead.
Add chili oil for spice or udon noodles to make it a full meal.
For dessert, pair with resepi biskut (buttery cookies) for a sweet finish.
