Ingredients

- 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- In a bowl, mix together heavy cream, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour half of this mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese and Parmesan over the first layer.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Dot the top with butter and sprinkle with thyme if using.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For crispy top, broil the potatoes for a few minutes after baking. Thinly slice the potatoes for even cooking.
