Ingredients

- 6 croissants, torn into pieces
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon or sausage (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
- Place the torn croissant pieces in a greased baking dish.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, making sure they are evenly coated.
- Sprinkle the cheese and cooked bacon or sausage over the top.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using different cheeses or adding vegetables such as spinach or bell peppers. Use stale croissants for best texture.
