- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked and drained
- 6 cups bread cubes (day-old or slightly stale)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Butter or oil for greasing
Instructions
- Cook sausage in a skillet until browned and drain excess grease.
- Grease a casserole dish and spread bread cubes evenly in the bottom.
- Top with cooked sausage and shredded cheese.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over bread, sausage, and cheese.
- Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight to let flavors meld.
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Uncover casserole and bake 40–50 minutes until center is set and top is golden.
- Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
