Description

A warm, bubbling casserole that combines the flavors of pizza with crispy tater tots for a comforting one-dish meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Optional Toppings: pepperoni, olives, bell pepper, green onions, mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until browned.
  4. Drain excess grease from the skillet.
  5. Add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet, and simmer for a couple of minutes.
  6. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese over the beef mixture.
  8. Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the cheese and beef.
  9. Top with the remaining cheese.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until tater tots are golden and crispy.
  11. If desired, add optional toppings and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a twist, replace beef with sautéed vegetables or use hash browns for a breakfast version.
