Description

Smoky, tangy, and perfectly spicy this Restaurant Style Salsa is everything you love from your favorite Mexican spot, made right at home with fresh, roasted ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Roma tomatoes or 1 can fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 1 jalapeño or serrano pepper (adjust for spice)
  • 1 small onion, peeled and halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, unpeeled
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Roast the tomatoes, pepper, onion, and garlic in a skillet or under the broiler until charred.
  2. Peel the garlic once cooled.
  3. Place all roasted vegetables in a blender or food processor.
  4. Add cilantro, lime juice, and salt.
  5. Blend until smooth or leave slightly chunky, depending on your preference.
  6. Taste and adjust salt, lime, or spice level as needed.

Notes

Store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Spice intensifies over time, so start mild if unsure. Great with chips, tacos, grilled meats, or even breakfast eggs!
