Delightful Japanese fish-shaped pastry that’s crispy on the outside and filled with sweet goodness.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red bean paste or any sweet filling (chocolate, custard, etc.)
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, milk, sugar, baking powder, egg, and salt. Mix until smooth.
- Preheat a taiyaki mold or fish-shaped pan over medium heat, and lightly grease it with oil.
- Pour a small amount of batter into one side of the mold, add a spoonful of your desired filling, and then cover with more batter.
- Close the mold and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the mold and serve warm.
Notes
Serve warm topped with powdered sugar or alongside whipped cream and fruit. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
